Who are we?
IndiStamp is a family-owned purpose-led business based in Bristol, a city known for its independence of thought and its independent businesses.
We're Ed and Krystyna, founders and creators of IndiStamp.
We're tired of high street globalisation. We're tired of seeing big bland brands in the news for their tax affairs. We wanted to build something for independents that focuses on their growth, and excludes the big boys.
Us, a little younger than now
Purpose-led
We're a purpose-led business, not profit-led. A purpose-led business asks "What impact do we want to have, and how do we build a sustainable business around that?", and that's exactly what we've done.
Why build a loyalty app?
It's a crowded space, right? We know. There are some big-money venture-capitalist-funded operators out there spending millions trying to dominate the market. You will have heard of them.
But in the words of many a great founder: "Never underestimate the late entrant - they get to learn from your mistakes."
To put it simply, we saw a gap. We noticed that a couple of our local coffee shops, both using the same well-known VC-funded multimillion-euro loyalty app, never promoted the app to their customers. We wondered why this was, and we think we found the answer.
THE MIDDLE MAN
When a loyalty app feels like a middle-man to both the vendor and the consumer, love for it is lost. It's no longer loyalty, it's a platform extracting value.
When you're an independent sharing a platform with Tesco, you feel like you don't belong. You're drowned out by the noise and you feel like you're there to make up the numbers. You're not sure who you're rewarding, or why. It doesn't feel like loyalty.
When you're a consumer earning your stamps and points from a local independent on a middle-man app, there's no feel-good, no virtue, no giving, just taking. It feels transactional - the opposite of how loyalty should feel.
TAPPING FOR GOOD
But many consumers want to choose local independent businesses over the big chains, they want you to survive, to grow, to thrive. They want to help, to do good, to play their part. We realised we could tap into that sentiment with a loyalty app that:
- incentivises and rewards advocacy — helping independent businesses grow through word-of-mouth referrals
- is very strictly for independents only — authenticity that assures the users they are spending money where it matters most
- is focussed only on what independents need — providing tools and features that genuinely support their growth and success. No distractions, gimmicks, or unnecessary features that only serve to benefit the platform or the big brands.
With this purpose-led approach users find it an easy decision to get on board. Help independents grow? Fight the big chains? Yeh I'm in!
We think we've created the loyalty and rewards app that independent vendors and consumers will love, and will continue to love as they see its positive impact.
